He signed for Real from Leganes in 2023, having previously been with Atletico Madrid and Getafe's academies, and initially featuring for the Juvenil C team, where he quickly made a positive impact.

Pitarch progressed to the reserve side and it was in a friendly match in which they faced the academy's first team, then managed by the former defender, where the youngster is said to have caught the attention of the current Real boss, who took over from Xabi Alonso in the new year.

Spanish media would later label the moment as "love at first sight," adding he stood out not only for his technical ability, but for the energy, personality and drive he added to the team.

'His Greatest Quality Is His Personality'

During the summer of 2025, former boss Xabi Alonso invited the youngster to train with the senior squad and awarded him minutes in the warm-up matches.

However, it was Arbeloa's appointment that became the defining moment in his career as he came on as a second-half replacement in both ties against Benfica that led to the clash with Manchester City.

"I have dreamed of this every night when sleeping, the very first time I began playing football, each day you head to training and each day you play a match," stated Pitarch after his first appearance.

"I've just fulfilled my dream with the greatest club in the planet and in the top tournament."

Given a starting debut in the Spanish league against his former club - where he was for four years after moving from Atleti in 2018 - he has kept his spot for the following four as injuries to Bellingham and Ceballos created an opportunity.

Pitarch has seized it with displays that have defied his age and experience.

"Thiago will keep receiving opportunities with the main squad. It is delightful to coach a talent like him."

A Future International Decision

Pitarch was born in Fuenlabrada, in the Spanish capital's community, and was raised fully immersed in the local game, moving through local academies before entering the club's famous youth academy.

He possesses both Spanish and Moroccan citizenship, giving him the choice to play for both nations at the highest level.

According to international regulations, footballers may represent different countries at youth level without being permanently tied, with the ultimate choice only final once they appear in a official full international.

Pitarch has featured for Spain at underage levels, representing both the under-19 and under-20 sides, and took part in the 2025 Youth World Cup, where Spain reached the last eight.

Despite this, he has yet to commit to either full national side, who are watching his rise with keen attention.

In a recent interview, Pitarch confirmed: "I haven't made my final decision so far. My situation is positive with Spain, but I will reach a conclusion soon."

This scenario echoes that of other dual nationality players such as Real team-mate Diaz and Barca star Yamal. Whereas 18-year-old Lamine opted for La Roja, Diaz opted to play for Morocco.

Focus on the Future

At present, Pitarch's focus is on establishing himself in the Madrid lineup and rewarding his manager's belief.

He was replaced by fellow youth graduate in Angel to emphasise Arbeloa's trust in younger players to aid the team chase future success.

Following his impressive impact so far on the Champions League, the midfielder is tipped to play a key role in that.

"The manager treats me the identical way. We deal with it very naturally. I try not to think about it excessively - I must earn my minutes on the field," he commented following the win at Etihad Stadium.
