New Particulars Surface Concerning the Finding of the Bodies of Rob and Michele Reiner Remains
New information has come to light regarding the tragic passing of acclaimed filmmaker Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were found at their residence home on Sunday.
The Discovery
According to a report citing a family associate, a therapist arriving for an appointment first raised the alarm after not being able to enter the residence. The practitioner then reached out to the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides close by.
After gaining access to the home, Romy found her father's body. Reports state she then fled the house in anguish, unaware at that moment that her mother's body was also inside. A companion who had gone with her contacted 911. Subsequently, emergency responders located Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Legal Proceedings
Authorities have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of premeditated murder, along with the alleged use of a deadly weapon, said to be a knife. He is currently in custody and is ineligible for bail.
Disputed Reports
The person close to the family also disputed several earlier details. The source indicated that while Romy Reiner told first responders that her brother Nick resided in a detached unit on the property, she did not point to him as a person of interest at that moment.
Furthermore pushed back against published claims that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been unusually "concerned" about Nick's conduct in the preceding period. Instead the family was "accustomed to working through [Nick's] problems together."
The statement includes accounts of alleged "unpredictable" behavior by Nick at a party held by Conan O'Brien on the night before the bodies were found. While the source stated they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "scolded" his son at the party, they said that suggestions of a "blow-up" between the two were untrue.
Investigation Details
According to law enforcement officials, the medical examiner had not yet established at that point whether the Reiners died on Saturday evening or on Sunday. Some accounts indicated the state of their bodies implied they had been deceased for a number of hours.
Nick Reiner was taken into custody at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park area, roughly 15 miles from the family home. He was due to have a hearing on Tuesday, but his legal counsel, Alan Jackson, stated his client had a medical issue and would be unable to attend until Wednesday or later.
