More than 50 Child Refugee Children Have Not Been Located Subsequent to Disappearing from Care in UK
More than 50 solitary young refugees who went missing soon after reaching the UK and while under the supervision of official bodies are remain unaccounted for, according to figures acquired.

Government Figures Shows Concerning Numbers

"If just one youth to go missing represents an total collapse of the state to shield the most vulnerable and abused in their care. These figures are in the several hundred."
Call for Action to Address the Issue
Advocates emphasized more needed to be done to locate the missing children. "These children did not elect to go missing. These minors should be playing football in the park and preparing for their GCSEs, not working for smuggling networks in conditions we know involve being restrained, abused and mistreated, and punished by being denied nourishment."
Regulatory Updates and Continuing Issues
In December 2023, following a protracted judicial process concerning unaccompanied minor refugees disappearing from all hotels, the procedure of routinely accommodating children in hotels was ruled unlawful.
Instead, officials pledged to strengthen security for these children by expanding the use of welcome hubs. After that judicial outcome an additional 44 children have vanished from these centres, with 10 remaining unaccounted for and 34 found.
"When a minor does go missing, the danger that they are being exploited increases significantly and they are certainly more susceptible to mistreatment and illegal trade."
