Jurgen Klopp says rejoining to manage Liverpool is plausible in theory.
Jurgen Klopp, who stepped down from Anfield in 2024, has suggested that returning someday remains a possibility. The 58-year-old, following a hugely successful nine-year spell which brought continental glory and the Reds’ first league title since 1990, has since taken on positions as head of global soccer with the Red Bull group and as an advisor to Germany's league body.
Fan Sentiment and Klopp’s Candid Remarks
They secured the Premier League last season, but many fans who adore the manager would embrace the possibility that he might come back one day. During an extensive chat, he told the podcast host: “I declared I refuse to lead any other side within the country. Therefore in case it's my former club...yes. In theory, it could happen.”
“At 58 years old, that means I could make the decision down the line, it's uncertain. Must I choose now? In that case, I'd stay away. But thank God, I don’t have to do that. I'll simply watch what lies ahead.”
What Would Lure Him Back?
When asked about which situations must arise to bring him back to management, Klopp admitted he feels no immediate pull toward coming back. “I don’t even know exactly, I enjoy my current role,” he commented. “I don't crave being a coach; I avoid standing during downpours for two-and-a-half or three hours; I don’t miss going to interviews repeatedly each week or doing numerous chats weekly.
“The locker room isn't missed in that context, however, dining out alongside the squad having a nice chat, I appreciate that. With many victories meaning regularly great spirits around the place. I can still hear Van Dijk's laughter ringing in my ears as an instance.”
Praise for His Successor
He spoke highly of the current boss, praising him due to the changes that took the title last campaign. The team has suffered a string of losses in every contest following significant transfers, but he rubbished the notion it could be a slump.
“[Liverpool have] an incredible striker like Florian Wirtz, you will all eat your words if you use the wrong words. He’s an incredible talent. Ekitike, superb talent. This is a well-built well-judged squad. No need for concern over the club, things will improve.”
Heartfelt Words for Diogo Jota
He shared movingly on the loss of Jota, a 2020 acquisition in 2020, and its impact at the club. The forward lost his life in a road accident with his brother this past summer.
“How do you replace such an individual? This isn't just regarding his on-field talent, it's his character. I struggle to conceive the squad absent his presence. I find it difficult to discuss regarding this. A profound tragedy for all the boys also. Nobody at Liverpool will ever use it for poor performances but it is the situation. Entering the changing area where he was omnipresent. Coping with it on a personal level is difficult. Unbearable.”
