Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Soldiers Group

Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a wide array of heroes, and a exciting storyline featuring divine entities, fiends, and malevolent powers increasing in strength within the city.

Warning: Revealing details for the third episode of Campaign 4 are included.

The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled

The third episode concluded with a huge suspense moment and revealed the first table of heroes who will branch out from the central cast to embark on their independent quest, distinct from the remaining groups.

The Soldiers table features Teor (played by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (Laura), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).

The Reason for Division

Given a large ensemble, it was clear from the beginning that maintaining everyone at one table would be impossible.

That’s why, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Overture, intertwining the personal journeys before splitting into three distinct groups: Warriors, Planners, and Questers.

What Defines the Soldiers Table

Per the DM, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who are drawn to a traditionally charged battle-oriented gameplay experience where non-violent answers are few and far between.

At first glance, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might appear mismatched, but the actions of episode 3 demonstrate why these five characters are perfectly fit for the combat party.

Why They Must Go

To begin with, the team has a clear idea where to head next after a violent opening clash with the enemy group.

A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose death initiated the campaign’s events—used the enemy for his selfish purposes, entering the hidden lair, attacking the rogue, and taking all the powerful objects to sell off.

Casimir then paid off his obligations and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.

Character Drivers

Moreover, each adventurer has a specific drive to leave the city the metropolitan area:

  • The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, wants revenge.
  • Kattigan has experience in the northern area and cautions that it is a nasty environment.
  • Tyranny and The cleric, having defied his house’s orders to execute the fighter and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
  • Yet, their status as important members in the influential clan could assist the party reach places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Moreover, The fighter pledged a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his salvation and will now go with him wherever.

Pursued by Authorities

In addition, all of them are hunted by the powers that govern the setting for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city no longer safe:

  • The rogue and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
  • The warrior and The healer turned against House Halovar and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
  • The fighter is marked for death by the clan.

This means them little choice but to journey toward the northern region in quest for Casimir.

Upcoming Developments

According to episode three’s post-show segment, we learn that the combat party will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight participants to assemble the Seekers and Schemers tables.

Audiences can expect learning which adventurers will be where in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on October 24.
