Actor Denies Anti-Vaxxer Stance Following Voicing Disputed Pandemic Feature
Liam Neeson has lent his voice to a recent film that casts doubt on the safety of immunizations and lauds one-time health official the political figure.
The Documentary's Provocative Foundation
Titled "Plague of Corruption," the project is inspired by a bestselling book written by a disgraced researcher, who gained notoriety during the health crisis for claims that the virus was a result of a bad strain of the flu vaccine.
Her collaborator, a producer, has penned books with far-right figure the Infowars host. The producer wrote online hailing Neeson's participation in the project.
A Firm Rebuttal
The team of Liam Neeson have provided a statement firmly refuting claims that he supports anti-immunization sentiments.
"Everyone can acknowledge that misconduct can exist within the pharmaceutical industry, but that cannot be conflated with being against vaccines," the response reads. "Liam has never been, and is not, anti-vax. His considerable work with Unicef underscores his enduring support for global immunisation initiatives."
The statement continued that the performer did not shape the project's messaging and that concerns about its claims should be directed to the filmmakers.
Central Themes Within the Documentary
According to the documentary, the narration spoken by Neeson features several controversial claims:
- It states that pro-immunization voices have demanded "unconditional submission" to government bodies.
- It declares that "research has become deeply politicized."
- Kennedy is featured stating, "The big problem with vaccines is that they simply are not adequately tested."
- The film also criticizes pandemic restrictions, arguing they caused severe distress that led to the loss of thousands of lives.
- Concerning pandemic shots, it cites a perspective that they were "developed too quickly" and seen as "dangerous experiments."
Previous Context and Recent Issues
It further cites a 2004 BBC documentary about HIV drug testing on children, which was later the topic of a correction by the broadcaster for editorial breaches.
In recent weeks, RFK Jr instructed the Centers for Disease Control to change its longstanding position that there is no causal relationship between vaccines and autism spectrum disorder. This supposed link is repeated in the film, despite a recent study from the World Health Organisation stating no connection has been found.
An Earlier Record of Endorsement
Standing in contrast to the film's tone, Neeson has previously voiced clear advocacy for vaccines in his capacity as a UNICEF goodwill ambassador.
In 2022, he called vaccines as "a remarkable triumph," adding that "The discourse about vaccines in the past few years has lost sight of how much positive impact they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest human endeavors in history."
The film concludes with Neeson's narration stating, "This marks not the end of our narrative. Rather, it is the start of a new chapter."
